MetropolisPatriarchNexusByPitswarren (AI)(Imp Aus)
We have bred many beautiful and beloved dogs (see Our Vizslas). Metropolis Patriarch Nexus By Pitswarren (AI) (Imp Aus) is a special case. His pedigree combines numerous firsts for us, including:
- the first bitch we bought as a breeder, bred by the man who mentored us, Brian Neaves of Kimlise Kennels;
- the dog that introduced us to that man, Ch Pitswarren Picasso (Imp UK), imported from the the world renown Pitswarren Kennels in the UK 10 years after he had imported his first bitch from them;
- our first experience identifying a dog that we were keen to breed to whose owner we had never met;
- our first Best In Specialty Show winner (his dam); and
- our first opportunity to return some of the unique qualities that Pitswarren vizslas had brought to Kimlise and subsequently Metropolis vizslas to his breeders, Pitswarren Kennels.
We showed Nexus in Australia as a 3 months old at Dogs NSW Spring Fair, and introduced him to some select friends, before sending him to his new home in the UK (where our family originates). His pedigree includes all three Pitswarren exports to Australia - Ch Pitswarren Judah Of Hubertus (w. 1993), Pitswarren Esther (w. 1995) and Ch Pitswarren Picasso (w. 2007).
After winning Puppy of Breed and Runner Up Best of Breed at his first show at Coventry & District Gundog Society in November 2019, in a record breaking start to his UK Show Career, Nexus was awarded Dog Challenge and Best of Breed (76 vizslas entered) from the Puppy Class at Ladies Kennel Association in Birmingham (the UK's biggest 2 day dog show) under breed specialist Sharon Bergin (Roughshoot) in December 2019.
In order to become a Show Champion in the UK, a dog must win 3 Challenge Certificates (CCs), often against close to a hundred vizslas, who may be from all over the UK and Europe. This is signicantly more competitive than in Australia.
Nexus is the youngest Vizsla to be awarded a CC in the UK, qualifying him for the UK Stud Book and lifetime qualification for Crufts, recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the World's Largest Dog Show. Competing at Crufts is only an option for dogs qualified to do so, through strong competition.
Rubina DaSilva also awarded him Puppy of Breed at Manchester a couple of weeks later in a total entry of 101 Vizslas.
On 6 March 2020 Nexus won PUPPY OF BREED (out of 18 Puppies entered from the UK, Hungary, Sweden and Australia) and JUNIOR DOG at CRUFTS. Nexus' show career was temporarily suspended by COVID, but in late 2021 he attained his UK SHOW CHAMPION title by winning BEST IN SPECIALTY SHOW at the UK Hungarian Vizsla Society Specialty Show, competing with 76 vizslas.
Nexus is Pitswarren's dog now, and provides us with a view into another country where competition is signficantly larger, titles are more competitive, and there is more history in the breed. We are thrilled to have bred him, and to be able to enjoy his development and show progress.
We are thrilled to own Nexus' sister, Ch Metropolis Patriarch Paloma (AI) and his pedigree siblings Ch Metropolis In Xcelsis Deo (AI) and Metropolis Hosanna In Xcelsis (AI).
